You may know us as Clean Nova Scotia, but we work across Atlantic Canada, throughout the traditional lands of the Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik. Our local roots are going global, exploring how our knowledge and experience can be used in other countries, including nations in the developing world. That's why we say we're just Clean. We are currently seeking a hardworking, dynamic and motivated individual to add to our Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps (NSYCC) team for summer 2015, who has a strong passion for people and the environment. Our approach is always collaborative and team oriented.
The NSYCC program was established in 1989 to provide Nova Scotian youth with training and employment opportunities in the environmental field. This program engages community partners across the province to hire students to carry out work that enhances the local environment through the summer months. The NSYCC provides Nova Scotia youth with skills for life-long learning including, team-building and leadership skills, public speaking and community outreach, increased knowledge for future employment and/or education ventures, program evaluation techniques, the ability to give back to their community and their environment, and workplace safety training, including first aid, WHMIS, and Occupational Health & Safety.
The community partner for this Summer intern position through the Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps (NSYCC) will be the Town of Mulgrave, reporting to Recreation and Physical Coordinator. In this position, you will be mainly responsible for research and development of day camps and special events with education and awareness of environmental issues; promotion of Active Transportation, and waste management. Reporting to the Recreation & Physical Activity Coordinator, Mulgrave Youth Conservation Team Members will participate in research, planning, and organizing day camps, programs, and special events that will enhance the environment in the Town, improve waste management practices and educate residents concerning sustainable practices, increase level of active transportation through walking and cycling clubs.
Mulgrave Community Pool Employment Opportunities
Must have high school or Post-secondary Education.
The Maintenance Assistant reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for the maintenance and repair of recreational facilities including the pool, trail, parks and playgrounds, as well as assist with special events.
The Pool Director will supervise lifeguards/instructors, plan and develop pool programs including public swims, lessons, and other activities. Perform life guarding and teach Red Cross program. Develop a staff incentive program and schedule, help plan and assist with special events. Please attch a copy of National's certification, WS! and/or other certifications to the application.
